To date she has completed modules in Yoga for Athletes; the Spine; the Hip; Myofascial Release; Mindful Trauma-Informed Training; Nervous System & Restorative; Mental Health & Wellness; Lymphatics and Teaching Yoga to Children. Megan owns and operates a studio located on 51 West Street.
Megan first discovered the incredible positive shift of a regular yoga practice in 2011 observing more mindfulness, peace, strength and joy in her daily life. After fulfilling a long-time dream to become a certified yoga teacher in February 2017, MHY was established that following November.
Driven to offer her students unique yoga experiences in different locations while collaborating with other local businesses, MHY’s first partnership was with a local microbrewery – Bootleg Brew Co. Yoga on Tap was born and from there, MHY has partnered with numerous other businesses throughout the province such as Gros Morne Adventures, Best Coast Cafe, Boomstick Brewing Co., The Hew & Draw Boutique Hotel, The Alder Cottage and more.
The unique yoga experiences did not stop there. Megan has hosted numerous Karma yoga classes to give back to local non-profit organizations in the community. Every summer a series of classes are hosted at the beautiful Bartlett’s Point Park overlooking the Bay of Islands where 100% of the proceeds are put back into the community. As well, MHY curates annual retreats in Gros Morne National park to offer students an amazing and inspiring backdrop to connect with their practice.
Since 2020, regularly scheduled MHY classes are offered both in-person and online. MHY also provides private yoga classes for corporate, family and group gatherings both in-person as well as online.
In addition to yoga, Megan spends as much time outside no matter the season with her husband and their three active dogs. Spending time surrounded by the ocean, forest and mountains is a great source of peace, calm and inspiration for Megan. She is an avid trail runner, cyclist, hiker, downhill and cross-country skier and enjoys spending as much time outside and possible. She attributes her regular yoga practice to helping her stay healthy and supporting such an active lifestyle. Megan also loves to experiment with cooking and enjoys the mindfulness aspect of spending time in the kitchen. If you have ever attended an MHY class, you quickly realize that music is another source of both joy and inspiration for Megan and she believes in the energetic shifts that a good playlist can offer.
